WHAT WE DO

International Health Services trains medical professionals to integrate their faith in Jesus into their medical practices.

WHY?

Because:

  •  Medical professionals often meet people at times of great need.
  •  Encounters at the bedside or in the office can be times of spiritual openness.
  • Physicians can have 5,000-7,000 one-on-one patient contacts per year.
  •  Patients look for compassion and truth from their medical professionals.
  • Scientific studies have shown that faith has a positive impact on illness prevention, coping with illness and recovering from illness

HOW?

Saline Solution-InternationalTM Conferences

The Saline Solution-InternationalTM is a ten-session training program designed for believing Christian medical professionals. Its purpose is to help individuals deepen their spiritual life, and provide insight and strategies for sharing their faith in their offices, clinics, or hospitals. The ultimate goal is to instill godly care and compassion in medical practices, transforming them into places where patients and their families can take continual steps toward Jesus, the Great Physician.

The Saline SolutionTM training consists of materials written specifically for the U.S. Christian Medical and Dental Association. IHS owns the worldwide licensing rights to the Saline SolutionTM Program (except for the U.S. and Canada).

Mentoring

Because changing behavior is such a difficult task, the IHS staff is committed to follow-up activities with every Saline Solution-InternationalTM participant. As staff follows-up with participants, they open the door for individuals to:

  • Share concerns and problems
  •  Seek support as they begin implementing the principles they learned
  • Deepen their faith

In Hungary, an ongoing group mentoring activity is called “Bethesda Nights.” Held monthly in a children’s hospital, the meetings help medical professionals form supportive relationships through prayer and discussion.

Ongoing mentoring also allows national leadership to emerge. These leaders are then trained to become presenters of the Saline Solution-InternationalTM conference. Thus the work of IHS can be transitioned to be a nationally-lead and implemented program.

WHERE?

Since its inception in 1996, IHS has hosted Saline Solution-InternationalTM conferences in the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Hungary, Romania, Germany, Singapore and Kazakstan. A total of 888 medical professionals have been trained! In addition, invitations have been received for conferences in the Ukraine, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and India.
